Baking

There's no better advertising for TRVS's bakery than the smells that fill the building every afternoon. Our bread is sold in individual servings in the snack shop, made to order for special occasions, and distributed to students during weeknight study sessions. We also send bread to North Korea sporadically, producing thousands of servings per shipment.

Breadmaking is a majors-only deparment at TRVS. Second-years, new to the department, learn the basics of baking, perfecting most general kinds of bread, cake, and cookies by the end of their first year. Juniors master the decoration and design component of bread production and experiment with recipes in creative fusions.

Past graduates have moved onto bakeries in cities such as Beijing, as well as to Rajin, North Korea, where they continue to help train local bread factory workers in a TRVS-affiliated endeavor that feeds 3500 Rajin children daily. This year, our department has 9 second-year students and 5 veteran third-years.
