English

The English department at TRVS has taken a different approach to English-learning in China, replacing rote memorization of grammar and vocabulary with a conversation-intensive curriculum. The goal is for all third-year students to be able to carry on daily conversational tasks with a native English speaker.

While all students take English grammar and conversation courses throughout their three years of attendance, English majors further their studies in writing, reading, advanced grammar, and culture. Graduating majors are academically prepared to major in English at the university level in China, or to enter study abroad programs at two-year colleges. Additionally, they are prepared to enter the industries of tourism and hospitality.

This year, the English department boasts 7 teachers (including 5 Americans), 7 second-year majors, and 7 third-year majors.
